IronPass – Password Manager | Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 31st August 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to Iron Pass! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Iron Pass collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile apps and optional browser extensions.

2. Information We Collect

Iron Pass is designed as a local password manager, meaning your passwords are stored securely on your device and are not uploaded to external servers by default.

However, in certain situations, limited information may be processed:

  • Crash Reports & Analytics: We may collect anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics to improve app performance. This data never includes passwords or sensitive personal information.
  • Backups & Imports: If you choose to back up or import data, it remains encrypted and stored only on your device or a storage location you control.
  • Feedback & Support: If you contact us, we may request device details, app version, or system logs to help resolve issues. This information is used only for troubleshooting.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the above information only to:

  • Improve app stability and performance.
  • Provide customer support.
  • Maintain app security.

We never use your information for advertising, profiling, or resale.

4. Data Security

  • All password data is secured with AES encryption.
  • By default, your data never leaves your device.
  • If you use the browser extension (see Section 7), data transmission is end-to-end encrypted (zero-knowledge) so no one—including Iron Pass or any intermediary server—can access it.

5. Third-Party Services

Iron Pass may use trusted third-party libraries for:

  • Crash reporting
  • Anonymous analytics

These services collect only non-personal, technical data. Your passwords are never shared.

6. Advertising

Iron Pass may display third-party ads.

  • Ads may use non-personally identifiable data (e.g., device type).
  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
  • You may opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.

7. Browser Extensions (Optional)

Iron Pass provides optional browser extensions (e.g., Chrome, Safari, and future supported browsers).

  • Use of the browser extension is entirely optional. By using it, you consent to the secure transmission process described below.
  • To connect the app with the extension, you scan a QR code that establishes a secure session.
  • Data (such as encrypted passwords) may be transmitted through an intermediary relay server to deliver it from your phone to the extension.
  • This process is end-to-end encrypted (zero-knowledge)—only your app and extension hold the keys, and Iron Pass (or the server) cannot access the data.
  • Any transmitted data exists only for the duration of the sync session (a few minutes) and is automatically deleted immediately after.
  • Neither the extension nor Iron Pass servers permanently store your passwords.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • You fully control your passwords and data.
  • You can delete your saved entries at any time in the app.
  • If you uninstall the app, all data on your device is permanently deleted.
  • Since Iron Pass does not collect personal accounts, there is nothing stored on our side to delete.

9. Account Deletion Policy

Iron Pass does not require online accounts. If you wish to stop using the app:

  1. Simply uninstall it, or
  2. Manually delete your saved data from within the app.

Deletion is permanent—we cannot recover your data. Please back up first if needed.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the app and/or on our official website.
